Magnum Swine Genetics Inc. has in place a biosecurity program to maintain its health standards. The facility is located in a sparsely populated livestock area to reduce the risk of transmitting the disease through the air.
Magnum Swine Genetics Inc. is licensed to as an Animal Semen Production Centre by the Canadian Food Inspecion Agency. As well, Magnum Swine Genetics Inc. participates in the Canadian Quality Assurance Program.
Visitors do not have access to the general boar stud or office area. The visitor area originally built with the A.I. Center is off-limits to all visitors/customers. Orders that need to be picked up from the A.I. Center can be done through use of the shop which is separate from the boar stud.
All employees are required to be cautious of places they may visit, that may cause a risk of disease transmission. The unit is a "shower in" facility with no street clothing or footwear worn past the main entry.
Monitoring for PRRS is done every collection day. The results of this testing are compiled into monthly reports, and can be found by clicking the links below.
